Privacy Policy

Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how the Daedalus website may process information when you browse the site, use local preferences, download software, or contact the project.

It covers the public website at daedaluswallet.net. Desktop wallet data, Cardano blockchain records, operating-system telemetry, hardware-wallet services, and websites reached through external links may be governed by separate technical controls or third-party privacy notices.

Information we may process

Standard server logs may contain an IP address, request time, requested page, browser type, referring page, and technical error data. If you contact the project, the information you voluntarily provide may also be processed.

Daedalus does not need your recovery phrase, private key, spending password, hardware-wallet PIN, or identity document to provide the public website.

Local preferences may include language, cookie-consent status, accessibility choices, and interface state. Where optional analytics or communications are enabled, associated event, device, campaign, and consent information may be processed only for the disclosed purpose.

Local wallet and blockchain data

Wallet keys and application databases are intended to remain on your device. Cardano addresses, balances, transaction hashes, staking activity, and governance activity may be permanently visible on the public blockchain and are not erased by clearing browser data.

Blockchain information is public or observable through network infrastructure and may be combined with information from other sources. Avoid publishing an address together with identifying information unless you understand the privacy consequences.

Purposes and legal bases

Technical data may be used to deliver and secure the website, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and maintain compatibility. Communications are processed to answer the request. Depending on context, processing relies on service performance, legitimate interests, consent, or legal obligations.

Where consent is the legal basis, optional processing can be declined or withdrawn without affecting strictly necessary website functions. Legitimate interests are assessed against visitor rights and may include service security, fraud prevention, aggregate performance measurement, and maintaining reliable documentation.

Cookies, local storage and consent

The website uses local browser storage to remember language and privacy choices. Optional functional, analytics, or marketing categories remain disabled by default unless you make an affirmative choice in the privacy center.

You can revisit or clear browser choices at any time. The Cookie Policy describes the available categories, current local-storage functions, and the difference between website preferences and desktop wallet data.

Sharing and service providers

Limited information may be processed by hosting, security, infrastructure, or support providers acting under appropriate obligations. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect users, the service, or legal rights.

Providers should receive only the information reasonably required for their role and may include hosting, content delivery, security monitoring, email, support, and privacy-compliant measurement services. Personal information is not provided to third parties merely because they request it.

Retention

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose, security, dispute handling, and legal compliance. Retention periods vary by data category and applicable law.

Browser preferences remain on your device until they expire, are replaced, or are cleared by you. Server security logs are generally kept for a limited operational period, while correspondence may be retained longer where needed to resolve a request, document consent, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.

International processing

Infrastructure providers may process information in different countries. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards should be used for personal data moved outside its originating jurisdiction.

Those safeguards may include adequacy decisions, approved contractual clauses, or other lawful mechanisms. The decentralized Cardano network is global and does not operate as a conventional service provider controlled by this website.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or export personal data, and to withdraw consent. These rights do not generally erase public blockchain records controlled by a decentralized network.

A request may require enough information to locate the relevant record and verify that it concerns you, but you should never provide wallet secrets. You may also have the right to complain to the data-protection authority responsible for your location.

Automated decisions and sale of data

The public website does not use personal information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Any automated security controls are intended to protect the website and may temporarily restrict suspicious or abusive traffic.

The website does not sell recovery phrases, wallet keys, transaction payloads, or visitor personal information. If future functionality introduces legally defined targeted advertising or data sharing, the relevant disclosure and consent controls should be updated before that processing begins.

Security and children

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards should be used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. The website is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to the relevant services in their jurisdiction.

If you believe information has been exposed or the website is being impersonated, use the official contact channel and provide only the minimum technical detail necessary to investigate. Never send a seed phrase, private key, wallet password, or hardware-wallet PIN as evidence.

External links and independent services

Links to Cardano resources, software repositories, hardware-wallet vendors, explorers, or other websites are provided for convenience. Their operators independently determine what information they collect and how they use it.

Before following a link or connecting a service, verify the complete domain and review its privacy notice. Daedalus is not responsible for privacy practices, content, or security controls operated by an unrelated third party.

Policy changes

This policy may be revised to reflect changes in the website, providers, or applicable law. Material updates will be identified by a new date at the top of this page.

Questions or privacy-rights requests may be submitted through the official contact page. Include the type of request and relevant website interaction, but do not include wallet secrets or information unrelated to the request.
